With my peskatarian its difficult to juggle the perfect amount of vitamins that my body needs. At times, my body simply screams the lack of vitamins that I've deprived it.
As for myself, believing that vitamins are best taken in the form of raw foods rather than vitamin pills, which in a way, using that to coach yourself to be much more aware of the foods that you are most likely to consume on a day to day basis.
Iron, a source of vitamin that is very vital to the function of the body which we almost could not live without. An article
here explaining this.
Knowingly, a steak provides a lot of these nutrients and could offer a very palatable meal, if cooked in the correct way, of course.
Over the past months of experimenting with the different cuts and combinations that could partner up with the steak. I've come to the perfect choice. Dauphinoise potatoes with a Medium cooked sirloin steak. And if your budget is of the £10.00 mark, then fear not, you would be able to get the perfect portion and have a very healthy and satisfying meal given that with most butchers general do cut a generous slice at the price £4.00 even. You will also need one large potato and double cream, including garlic for the Dauphinoise potato.
First, preheat your oven to 200fh. Thinly slice your potatoes, add your double cream and garlic and pop it into a clay pot. Cook for roughly 20 mins.
Once the potatoes are cooked. Heat up a griddle or pan for at least 5 mins. This needs to be pipping hot so that you can cook your steak evenly.
With an medium sized steak, for medium cooked, I've opted in for a total of 3 minutes on each side. Using a timer to cook each side for a minute before flipping it over to cook for another minute. No pressing, no flipping over before the first minute is up. Just a hot pan and to allow it to naturally cook.
Once the steak is cooked, add a lump of butter with some left over chopped garlic and fry that in the pan while still hot. Remembering to feed the juices back into the steak for another minute. This will ensure that the steak keeps in the moisture after all the cooking. It is also vital at this point that the steak should be left for another 2-3 minutes before serving.
Once its all cooked, plate up, serve and enjoy.
There are many different steaks to experiment with. Cuts and size which over sometime, you too can cook to perfection and be a conessuir of steaks!
